The centre of Argentine Polo is very much Buenos Aires province, in particular Pilar, and for those looking to improve their game or take themselves from having no idea to being competent, Buenos Aires is the only choice. However, though in reality Polo is not much more accessible in Argentina than it is anywhere else in the world, there are clubs throughout the country and many Estancias (farms) have their own pitches. The horses tend to be rougher round the edges than in Buenos Aires and perhaps the pitches are a tad bumpier but if you’re looking to try your hand at the game for just a day or two it is, without a doubt, the best option.
