2. Booking is dependent upon completion of an Accident Waiver and Release From Liability Form by each participant.
3. MacDermott’s Argentina reserves the right to change any itinerary or change or cancel any service at any time due to weather conditions or other reasons without penalty to MacDermott’s Argentina.
4. The participation of any person on any program is continually subject to the discretion of the guide and MacDermott’s Argentina program leader or representative.

6. In the unlikely event of an emergency, participants may be liable for any rescue or evacuation costs incurred either on their behalf or as a result of their actions.
7. MacDermott’s Argentina is not responsible for the terms and conditions of any airline or bus tickets.
Tier pricing (concerning ‘fixed date’ holidays)
When trips do not fill to a required level, a price adjustment may become necessary to avoid trip cancellation (see sections below ‘Cancellations and Refunds’ and ‘Changes’).
Trip insurance / travel health insurance
We require proof upon final payment that you have purchased health insurance to ensure that you are adequately covered for any eventuality (thus a policy that covers at the very least trip cancellation, travel delays, baggage loss and delays, non-refundable airline tickets, accident/life coverage and horse riding; emergency medical evacuation is also something that you should consider).
Passports, visas and preparing for your trip
Participants are responsible for the provision of all necessary valid documents such as passports, visas and drivers licenses. They also have responsibilities to themselves, MacDermott’s Argentina and one another and must choose a trip that is appropriate to their interests and physical abilities. MacDermott’s Argentina reserves the right to cancel your holiday, in any circumstances, a very rare occurrence which could occur for example if the minimum number of clients for a particular tour/ holiday is not reached, or due the failure of a hotel. If we are unable to provide a booked holiday you are entitled to either a full refund of all monies paid, or you may prefer to accept an offer of an alternative holiday of comparable standard from us, if available, in which case will refund any price difference if the alternative is of a lower value.
We will not however cancel your holiday less than 8 weeks before the departure date:
EXCEPT for reasons of force majeure, which in our opinion are necessary to protect your safety
OR due to failure by you to pay your final balance.
We cannot accept liability or pay any compensation for any loss, damage or expense where the performance or prompt performance of our contractual obligations are prevented or affected in whole or part as a result of circumstances amounting to force majeure.
No refunds will be issued on whole or partially unused portions of packages or unused services
Changes
If you wish to change your holiday in any way, for example your chosen departure date or a specific accommodation, you must notify us via email as soon as possible and we will do our utmost to make the required alterations, although we cannot guarantee it will be possible. Any request for alterations must be communicated from the person who signed the Reservation Form, and are not considered requested until acknowledged by a return email from MacDermott’s Argentina. Alterations cannot be accepted within one month of the departure date of the holiday. Where you or any member of your party is prevented from traveling e.g. due to the death of a close relative, jury service, illness, or the requirements of an employer, that person may transfer their booking to someone else provided that the new person satisfies all conditions required and we are notified not less than 90 days prior to the scheduled departure date; in such a case further costs may be applicable. If your booking changes because someone in your party cancels, we will recalculate your holiday cost based on the new number of people traveling. If fewer people share accommodation or private transport services, then the cost for them may go up. This extra cost is not a cancellation charge, and is not covered by your travel insurance. It is unlikely that we will need to make any changes to your holiday, but we do plan arrangements months in advance. Very occasionally we have to make a change and reserve the right to do so at any time. These changes are generally minor and we will advise you of them at the earliest possible date.
Reasonable changes to itineraries may also be made where deemed advisable for the comfort and well being of participants. The right is reserved to substitute hotels, alter the itinerary, and reverse the order of places to be visited.
Force majeure
Force majeure means unusual and unforeseeable circumstances beyond the company’s control, the consequence of which neither the company nor its suppliers could avoid even if all due care had been exercised, and any event which we or agents providing the service could not, even with all due care, foresee or avoid, such as: war or threat of war, riots, civil strife or commotion, terrorist activity, epidemic or health risks, pandemic, quarantine, industrial action, natural or nuclear disaster, fire, adverse weather conditions, closure of airports or ports, technical problems with transport, governmental action and all other similar events or circumstances outside our control. We cannot accept liability or pay any compensation for any loss, damage or expense where our obligations are prevented or affected by reason of force majeure, or where the performance or prompt performance of our contractual obligations is prevented or affected in whole or part as a result of circumstances amounting to force majeure.
Without limitation, MacDermott’s Argentina is not responsible for acts of God, equipment failures, vehicle accidents, illness from food or otherwise, detention, assaults, theft or criminal activity, annoyance, delays, quarantine, strikes, failure of any means of conveyance to arrive or depart as scheduled, civil disturbances, terrorism, government restrictions or regulations, and discrepancies or changes in transit or hotel services over which it has no control. We shall not be liable for any losses, damages, expenses or any consequential losses howsoever arising. This is extremely unlikely but if this situation does occur, we regret we will be unable to make any refunds, pay you any compensation or meet any costs or expenses you incur as a result. If a trip is delayed due to road or trail conditions, airline delays, government intervention, illness or any other contingency that we or our agents cannot control, MacDermott’s Argentina reserves the right to modify the trip fee.

Riding helmets

The use of this protective helmet could prevent brain damage or death in the event of an accident. Due to the individual nature of well-fitting riding helmets, we advise that you each bring your own with you.
Limitations of liability
For claims which do not involve death or personal injury, the maximum amount we will have to pay you if we are found liable to you on any basis is two times the price (excluding insurance premiums and amendment charges) paid by or on behalf of the person(s) affected in total unless a lower limitation applies to your claim. This maximum amount will only be payable where everything has gone wrong and you have not received any benefit at all from your holiday.
Many of the activities that you may choose to take part in during your holiday have potential serious risks, especially in remote areas. We will not however be responsible for any injury, illness, death, loss, damage, expense, cost or other claim of any description whatsoever which results from:

– The act(s) and/or omission(s) of a third party not connected with the provision of your arrangements and which were unforeseeable or unavoidable
– ‘Force majeure’ as defined above
We will not be responsible for any activity or excursion that does not form part of your package or contract with us, even if recommended by us. We do not however exclude liability for the negligence of ourselves or our employees resulting in your death or personal injury.
Health and dietary needs
By sending a deposit, you certify that you do not have any physical condition or disability that would create a hazard for you or other travellers. Please inform us prior to your departure if you have any special dietary or medical needs, or pre-existing medical conditions which we need to know about (especially allergies or medications). MacDermott’s Argentina reserves the right to disqualify for medical reasons any participant from any portion of a trip. No refunds are given under these circumstances. In the event of a serious medical problem we may be far from medical facilities and evacuation could be difficult, lengthy and expensive.
Special requests
If you have any special request, you must advise us at the time of booking on your Booking Form. Although we will endeavour to pass any reasonable requests on to the relevant supplier, we cannot guarantee that requests will be met. Confirmation that a special request has been noted or passed on to the supplier or the inclusion of the special request on your confirmation invoice or any other documentation is not confirmation that the request will be met. Failure to meet any special request will not be a breach of contract on our part unless specifically confirmed. All special requests are subject to availability.

We reserve the right to give notice in writing of a minimum of thirty (30) days to the participant at any time prior to the departure date of the trip to increase the price of the trip to reflect any increase in the cost to MacDermott’s Argentina which is due to any factor beyond the control of MacDermott’s Argentina such as without limitation any foreign exchange fluctuation, currency regulation, alteration of taxes, permissions or licenses, fuel surcharges or other associated costs that may affect the trip). We absorb amounts of up to 2% of the cost quoted to you for the arrangements in your Confirmation Invoice (excluding any amendment charges).

What our guests say
Posted on Amy KRTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Just returned from a FANTASTIC trip to Argentina. Working with Paulo and his team at MacDermott's was excellent -- they were professional, very responsive to our goals and need, and they thought of every detail. We really appreciated their careful listening to our needs and goals for our trip and the itinerary they planned for us, including a special private tango lesson evening. All of the logistics for drivers and domestic Argentinian air travel were handled meticulously, Communications with the team were easy and they always responded promptly. We felt very well cared for during our travels. Would definitely work with MacDermott's again!Posted on Suzanne McCabeTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Paulo and team did a fantastic job of planning Matt's trip - 39 pages of explicit detail for three weeks! When there were minor glitches the team responded immediately to the WhatsApp group chat and resolved any concern. I would highly recommend this tour company.Posted on Laurie SchulzTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Paulo was an amazing representative! He was very helpful in setting up excursions, lodging and transfers. He was extremely responsive and always considered our wants and needs. We loved our time in El Chalten, El Calafate and Puerto Natales!Posted on Gerry FitzGeraldTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Two old (in every sense) friends, one from Canada, one Australia, left Buenos Aires for a three week off-the-beaten-track trip to Argentinean Patagonia with Hugh MacDermott in his 4WD. (Respectively our third and second MacDermott trips.) And this trip has become one of the greatest of our lives. It had a long gestation period as we planned, and changed our plans, and took advice and did homework, with benign patience and endless assistance from Hugh and the MacDermott team. The ultimate itinerary was brilliant. Down the Atlantic coast, exploring coastal communities and major projects, including 'Patagonia Azul', focused on restoration of marine ecosystems and partly based around Isla Leones with its eco huts and superb oceanfront environment. Boat trips on the Atlantic. Burrowing parrots, humpback whales, tonina dolphins, sea lions, penguins, a magical abandoned lighthouse, plus much more. And a week without seeing another tourist! Some long drives - but never boring. Then across south central Patagonia to the Andes and the lakes, and heading north with several 3/4 night stops for exploration. Every stop met our brief, but there was one absolute standout, namely 'Rewilding Argentina', the counterpart to 'Rewilding Chile' which we visited the year before. Hugh had arranged for us to be the first 'outsiders' to be welcomed into this astonishing and ambitious national park and fauna/flora regeneration project. The welcome from our three young guides and mentors was fulsome and moving, and the exposition of tracking, monitoring and fostering species, some threatened, was a passion project in the best sense. And all this while negotiating and articulating futures for local communities whose life circumstances are changing. During our trip, we had local guides whose commitment and expertise was extraordinary and always accompanied by good humour and a lot of laughter (as was the trip in general). Our mini-mantra became, 'you started as a guide, ended as a friend', and we hope to remain in contact. No surprise that evening dinners often meant vibrant discussion and learning (well, rabbiting on), leavened by Malbec and the really great company of Hugh. Accommodations were as we wanted: comfortable; authentic to environment where possible; happy places with good dinners. Maybe paddling was going on below the surface but we didn't know because everything ran so smoothly, with flexibility always an unproblematic option. So, the strongest recommendation for any reader contemplating such a trip is to plan and book with MacDermott's. Clearly this review inadequately skims the surface of our odyssey and adventure. And the inadequacy reflects the fact that the whole of this trip was greater than the sum of its parts.Posted on Robert BTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Hugh and colleagues planned and delivered a tailored itinerary for us from Santiago to Puerto Montt and down the Carretera Austral via Chiloe Island. It was a great trip. Arrangements in Chile worked well. A WhatsApp link ensured communication if and as needed (which it wasn't). Our driver cum guide, Hans, was terrific. And the various activities along the way were the kinds of experiences we hoped for. It felt like - and was - a collaborative undertaking based on taking time to understand our wishes, then following through. So, a strong recommendation for MacDermott's (as well as for Patagonia).Posted on Carole MartinezTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I am so pleased to review our personalized trip planned by Paulo. We enjoyed the vacation of a lifetime. In every destination, we stayed at unique and beautiful boutique hotels. They truly reflected the culture of the places we were visiting and the service was so friendly. The guides and the tours way exceeded our expectations. Throughout our journey we really got a feel for the history and the culture of the areas that we never would have experienced on our own. Like the night of Tango in Buenos Aires with with Gustavo and the market tour in Santiago with Eduardo. Experiencing Iguazu from both the Argentinian and Brazilian sides was so much fun with Cato. The boat right on the Parana and bandoneon concert by Luis moved me to tears. Our treks and boat rides and asado experiences with Facundo and Nico were so much fun. They made us feel like family. Every detail of this vacation reflected Paulo's love of his culture and care and concern for his patron's happiness. Gracias por todo.Posted on denise rothTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. November 22, 2024 I booked a trip to Buenos Aires and Argentine Patagonia through MacDermott's Travel on February 17, 2024. The tour was scheduled for September 13th through the 21st. I made it to Buenos Aires; however, I wasn't able to take the tour due to illness. I became violently ill and unable to walk. I didn't learn my true diagnosis in Buenos Aires but upon my return home to Las Vegas I had to be hospitalized for severe dehydration and complications stemming from an urinary tract infection. I also had rhabdomyolysis,. I learned that my condition was life threatening. Given this, I had to cancel the tour. I ended up staying at two different hotels for the length of my stay. All I saw of Buenos Aires was the street outside my hotel window. I was alone in a foreign country without the benefit of knowing how to speak and understand fluent Spanish. This exacerbated my condition. If it wasn't for Hugh MacDermott and his staff, I honestly do not know how I would have managed. Hugh sacrificed his time at work for days by helping me get to a hospital and to a pharmacy. He arranged for a doctor to come see me in my hotel room and he checked on me daily. Hugh arranged arranged for my travel home and made sure I had a wheelchair at every airport I had to deplane. Jimena, my travel agent, desgned a private tour for me to see everything I wanted to see. Ana, my gracious guide, took me to and from the airport. She interpreted for me with staff there and obtained a wheelchair for me to get me to my gate. During my initial drive to Buenos Aires she gave me an excellent history of Argentina and Buenos Aires in general. Additional staff members, Marianna, Paulo and Adriano, expertly coordinated my stay which I am grateful for. In the end, Hugh assisted me by writing a letter of explanation to Faye, my travel insurance agency, and he supplied them with the necessary documents necessary for me to claim reimbursement for the trip. Though my trip did not work out as planned, MacDermotts went out of their way to make my stay as stress-free as possible. They provided me with a heart rendering experience that is not always the case in the travel industry. Contact them when you plan to go to Argentia for a vacation. Denise RothPosted on Melodie HomerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had an excellent trip to Argentina! When I spoke with Macdermotts travel agent, I had a few ideas of what I wanted to see and do. We were presented with a trip that exceeded our expectations. We spent time in Buenos Aires, Cafayate and Iguazú Falls. All of our accommodations were excellent. However, the food, spa, and views at the Cafayate hotel were hands down our favorite. In Buenos Aires, we attended a tango show and explored the city. We also learned how to make empanadas and learned about Argentinian wines at a private cooking class and wine tasting. In Cafayate, we visited boutique wineries, went horseback riding, and visited a farm that made amazing goat cheeses. Our last stop at Iguazú Falls was breathtaking. I appreciated our agents team making some minor changes during our time in Argentina and having someone to help us with the language (our Spanish is non-existent). And our drivers and operators were excellent. Overall, it was an amazing trip!Posted on Paul LTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. MacDermott travel was amazing! Our family of seven ranged in ages from 11 to 80 +. It's difficult to find activities that interests everyone, but Hugh and his crew did a great job. Mikaela (sp?) for our Iguazu portion was very helpful and informative. We learned a lot about the beauty of the falls as she walked us around the different trails. For our trip to Purmamarca, Christian and Ignacio were a ton of fun and helpful. They really gave us an inside locals view of the area as well as some great places to eat. They were able to keep us on our itinerary schedule, yet able to meet our needs and desires as a they popped up. Hugh's team did an excellent job in finding us wonderful hotels for all of our stays. In El calafate, even though the weather didn't really cooperate we had a great time. The highlight was the boat ride we took around Lake Argentina. That was a memorable event we will never forget. We made great friends along the way as well! When the weather acted up too much for us to continue our scheduled itinerary outdoors, they (Pablo) were able to find us a really fun activity indoors as well. Nothing beats a last minute trip to the glacier bar! Puerto Piramides was equally as stunning. We never thought we would be that close and able to see the whales as often as we did. We also learned (from our guide Juan) a lot about the habitat of the whale species that lives in that area. From our hotel room we could just sit on the balcony and just watch the whales jumping around the bay. The boat ride, taking us up close, was something we could not have imagined. During our 3 weeks, there were a couple times when we had some 'bumps in the road', but team MacDermott was able to assist! When I travel with the family, I often like to do most of the planning myself. Argentina was an unfamiliar place to me, so I left it in the hands of MacDermott travel. I'm very glad I did so. There was no way I could have done as nearly a good job as this team did. They were able to plan as much as we wanted them to plan. Sometimes, we like to venture on our own and their recommendations for very helpful. In Buenos Aires when we were searching for tickets for some events, the team was able to help us acquire such memorable tickets for events such as opera at Teatro Colon and a live futbol match. Anyone looking to plan a extended trip to Argentina, I highly recommend the MacDermott travel team. If you're traveling from the USA, it really seemed as though using American dollars was a lot more helpful than not. Businesses in Argentina were eager to accept dollars at a very good rate! Thank you Hugh and thank you McDermott team!Posted on Jane GrimmTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. MacDermott's Argentina arranged an amazing 2 week trip to Buenos Aires, Iguazu Falls, Mendoza and the Lake District of Patagonia for us two couples in March 2024. What an incredible trip! Everything went smoothly, the hotels were fantastic and we loved all our guides. Marianna couldn't have been easier to deal with--she took such great care of us every step of the way. Highly recommended!
