Day 2

Today will take you on a trip round the four major landscapes of Mendoza.

You’ll start early, waving goodbye to Pablo and Mariela, and head first into the desert that lies to the north of the city. The road then takes a slow curve west and up into the Andes mountains.

Lunch in the mountain town of Potrerillos at a restaurant which the same family has been running for three generations.

You’ll then continue the loop further into the mountains where the scenery will take another dramatic change through an area called Las Carreras, which in parts is not dissimilar to the hills of Scotland, finally your journey will end  in the verdant fruit plantations and vineyards of the Uco Valley whose treelined roads are reminiscent of parts of Italy.

Day 3

A private luxury wine tour of the vineyards and wineries of the Uco Valley.

The Uco Valley is often compared to the Napa Valley 30 years ago. It is the new frontier of winemaking in Mendoza. At a higher elevation than Luján de Cuyo, excellent high-altitude wines are produced from vineyards of up to 1,400 m (4,600 feet) high, at the foot of the towering Andes mountains. Today you will get a chance to explore the region and taste some of it’s best known wine as well some of it’s hidden gems. During the tour you’ll visit three wineries: tours and wine tastings at two during the morning followed by a late, relaxed gourmet lunch at a third.

Day 4

Today you’ll continue with the large circle round Mendoza driving onto Luján de Cuyo, the home of the province’s oldest wineries and most prestigues wines.

In the Luján de Cuyo wine region the past meets the present. Here Argentina’s best Malbecs are produced in quaint historic wineries side by side with modern boutique wineries, it makes for a unique wine tasting day with interesting contrasts and, of course, some great views of the Andes.

The tour will be private and you’ll visit four wineries: guided tours and wine tastings at three of them in the morning, before finishing up with a  gourmet lunch at a fourth.
